M.I.A. To A New Day

So sorry I've been MIA. I'll make it up to you.

I've been adapting a new philosophy....stay in motion. I'm like a shark...if I stop swimming, I'll sink.

SO.....today is fresh with no mistakes in it.

Let's do a rundown since last Wednesday:

Thursday: Work. Exhaustion. Furniture shopping with DF. Found couches we want. Bought new couch pillows. Home at 9:30PM.

Friday: Redbull. Energy. Went to The Maxx with Momma after work. Spent way too much money. Got lamps, comforter, shams, pillows and Calvin Klein sheets for DF and I's bedroom. (Will post bedroom inspiration and pics soon)

Saturday: Cut all my hair off. It's total "Mom Hair" and I'm unhappy. Lunch at the Crab Shack. (Not as good as the Crab Pot in Seattle. Not even close. Although sharing my King Crab with DF....that is LOVE.) Went to the movies. Saw "The Fighter." Came home...made supper....watched "Paranormal Activity 2" with DF on the couch. (With the lights on to prevent nightmares.)

Sunday: DF had to work....first Pirates Spring Training Game. TBF and I had Carbon Monoxide warnings for over an hour. Ripped detectors from ceiling. Took Duncan to momma and papa bears. Went swimming. Played out by the pool all afternoon with Sissy. Got a little sunburn. TBF took me to get mani/pedis which were amazing. Took Duncan to get a haircut. Came home, cooked DF steaks and chicken on the grill. Ate supper. Watched the Oscars.

So....we've been busy little bees.

I promise I'll be blogging more. Florida has just finally started being really fun! I am settling into the condo. I still have yet to hang a single thing up....but we're settling.

I've got blueberry muffins cooking in the stove for DF right now. I am happy we're busy and healthy.

It's been constant motion...but Florida is starting to feel like home.

XOXO.

I'm back! Give me a vote to say hi!

The Fall

So, last night DF was exhausted. The number one thing I was concerned about was....Hoarders.

Yes, Hoarders. The season finale. It was the guy who hoarded, wait for it, RATS.

And let me just say this about Hoarders: as I watch the show I look around my house to see what stuff I can get rid of. Don't you?

My main goal last night was to keep DF awake until the show came on at 10PM. I got home from work about 7PM. I was still a tornado of energy from my busy day. DF, who worked 5:30AM-2:30PM was not a tornado. He wasn't even a light rain. He was dead tired.

So, I told him to take a little nap, and I decided to do a Maxx run with momma bear.

Scored three new tops at the Maxx. Man, that place it the bomb. I'm wearing a new sweater right now.

Anyways, back to the story. I got home, and DF threw in the white towel. Or up the white flag. Or...nevermind, what ever that expression is, he did something white. (Well, that sounds awful.) Let's just say it this way, he surrendered to his tired.

I tucked DF into bed, ok.hunnie.I.love.you.gotta.go.hoarders.is.on style, and run into the great room like a crazy person. It is now 10:01PM and I've missed the first minute of Hoarders. Shit.

So while my eyes are glued to the television, I tried to aim my rump into a very low green armchair. I lower my self slowly and....

The next thing I know, I'm on the ground. Feet over head. The freaking chair flipped over.

Hilarious, I know. Well, it would have been if I hadn't crashed into the bookcase and slider, which promptly wedged me ass-up in the living room.

Everyone started laughing but I knew I had seriously hurt myself. My papa had to wrestle me right side, at which point the throbbing and pain really kicked in. So I did what comes naturally, I ran into the bathroom to cry and be in misery alone.

Well, DF heard my tears, and he came and got me off the floor, got me some ice packs and took excellent care of me. I don't know if you guys are like me, but when my man is taking care of me, I always feel bad and profusely apologize. Must work on that.

Anyways. I've completely thrown out my shoulder. My left had is still very swollen and DF thinks I have a tiny fracture. But I can type, so I think I'll make it.

And I've only been at my job 4 weeks, so Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go.

End of story: I didn't get to see Rat guy Hoarders. But I do have a DF who forgoes sleep to take care of me.

The end.

Mail Stop

Ok. This is embarrassing. I didn't have any inspiration for a Christmas card holder this year. Everything looked super blah to me. So, defeated by laziness, I started taping cards onto our bedroom door around our felted tree advent calendar.

Tah-tah-tah-tacky.

Well, inspiration stuck. Ribbon. Yes, the same ribbon I've been tying on all our Christmas presents.

Thanks JoAnne Fabrics!

I just taped the ribbon to the door with plain old Scotch Tape:

Prettier already.

Added our cards and voila!  I spent 20 mins and organized them all. Take a peek!

So much better.

I even love it with the door open:

Sigh of relief.

Look, I get that Friday is Christmas Eve, so why bother? Well, the mess bothered the hell out of me! Besides, it's the little things that count. I'm so glad I fixed it.

Also, that adorable advent calendar was a find last year at The Maxx.

(Definition(s): A: "The Maxx," a cool place to hang out at on the show Saved By The Bell. B: A crazier way to do something. Eg: "I did that shit to The Maxx." C: The Maxx, A shopping emporium frequented by fashionistas. See also "TJMaxx.")

The calendar was on super clearance and was under ten dollars. This year I told DF that he should put cash in every single day. Uh, not so much. He did me proud though. On December 3, I noticed a tiny slip of paper in the slot. No bigger than a fortune from a fortune cookie.

It said a reason why he loved me. Gulp. I just love this man. He put one for every day of the month.

Today's was particularly good:

Love.

Clearly, he is a keeper.

Hey! I'm a keeper too! Listen to this good news: I landed an awesome job today, and they want me to start tomorrow morning at 9:00AM!

Santa came early in our house. Today was a great day.
